Justin has been travelling to Japan for over two decades. He has covered the standard routes enough times to know their limitations and has spent the years since looking for the parts of Japan that do not appear on the standard itinerary - the backstreets of Yanaka, the onsen villages of the Kaga region, the covered markets of Kanazawa, the art islands of the Seto Inland Sea.
Before co-founding The Japan Concierge, Justin spent twenty years in technology product development, leading digital transformation at some of Australia's larger financial services businesses. He applies the same discipline to travel design - questioning the standard approach, identifying where the conventional recommendation fails, and building something better.
At The Japan Concierge, Justin oversees product and client experience, which in practice means designing the frameworks that turn a vague idea of a Japan trip into a specific, well-considered plan. He writes about Japan travel planning from the perspective of someone who has made most of the common mistakes already and would prefer clients did not have to.
