Day 1

Check in to your luxe Tokyo lodgings - your home for the next couple of days. Afternoon at leisure to acquaint yourself with the neighbourhood before dinner at an exceptional wine bar featuring local bites and international wines.

Day 2

Breakfast at leisure before exploring two of Tokyo’s finest contemporary art galleries with a casual lunch in between. Dinner will be at an exquisite tempura restaurant.

Day 3

Today the focus switches to more traditional Japanese artists with a visit to Tokyo’s Ryugoku area. If the timing is right then a visit to a sumo match or training stable can also be arranged should you wish. Dinner this evening will be at a local izakaya.

Day 4

After breakfast, you will board one of Japan’s famous bullet trains (shinkansen) to the Venice of Japan where you will check in to a stunning traditional inn (ryokan) on a canal. A traditional dinner will be served in-house and promises to be a treat.

Day 5

You will be delighted to discover the works of El Greco, Gauguin, Monet, and Matisse at one of Japan’s most understated galleries. Spend the afternoon exploring this picturesque town and acquiring some artisanal delights to take home. Dinner at your ryokan this evening.

Day 6

An early start to today as you journey to the wonderous Naoshima Art Island where you will stay the night. The day can be spent exploring the many exquisite installations on offer with a relaxing dinner at your hotel that evening.

Day 7

Spend the morning relaxing or taking in further exhibits. An afternoon ferry ride will take you back to the mainland where you will start your journey back to Tokyo. Your dinner tonight will be at a contemporary Japanese restaurant.

Day 8

Your final day is free for you to explore the nation’s capital and take care of any last-minute purchases. You can of course use the time to visit one of Tokyo’s many stunning contemporary or traditional galleries. We are very happy to make recommendations based on your interests.
