Day 1

Check in to your Tokyo home away from home for the next few days. Tour Tsukiji outer market with our step by step guide to the must-try treats on offer. A private guide can be organised on request at an additional cost. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2

Morning at leisure to explore the local area. Private sushi-making class with a master sushi chef for lunch. Dinner at one of Tokyo’s 203 Michelin-starred establishments, followed by a nightcap at a speak-easy whiskey bar.

Day 3

Take a boat tour and visit to one of Tokyo’s oldest temples. Enjoy street food from one of the vendors nearby before a lunch of tempura or eel. After lunch, tour Tokyo’s catering district where you can purchase stunning local ceramics. Attend a class making fake food. Dinner at an exclusive Omakase sushi restaurant.

Day 4

Travel on Japan’s famous bullet train (shinkansen) to Fukuoka, renowned for its exceptional food scene. Purchase one of Japan’s famous ekiben (station boxed lunch) for the journey. Dinner at a wonderful local izakaya on the outskirts of the city.

Day 5

Start the day with exceptional coffee from one of Fukuoka’s finest coffee purveyors. Breakfast at leisure then explore the sights of Fukuoka before a private sake tasting with an English-speaking sake sommelier. Dinner at an outdoor yatai (food stall) for the more adventurous or a traditional local restaurant.

Day 6

Visit one of Fukuoka’s most revered Shinto shrines before making the journey back to Tokyo. Dinner this evening will be at one of Tokyo’s best restaurants for your final evening in the capital.

Day 7 - Departure Day

Spend your final day, in Ginza shopping for omiyage - Japanese food souvenirs at the legendary Ginza department stores and their amazing basement food halls (or depachika as the locals know them). Then enjoy a delicious serving of ramen at a Michelin-starred ramen joint. Reluctantly check out of your hotel and depart for the airport, already planning for your return.
